What's New in Lightroom Mobile | October 2020 update

Adobe new feature

A few weeks ago Adobe post a video of their new feature for Adobe Lightroom cc, and Lightroom, click here to check previous article. After the Adobe Max event they also released a mobile version, Lightroom version 6.0, in this version they add a new feature.

So, What's New in Lightroom Mobile

There is not many features they added in this version. They only added a separated color grading option. Which you can find inside the color tab in Lightroom. So, when you go to the color option you will find a separate grading option.

Now with this option you can now color grade your images. This is only the newest option here. With this option you can totally control the color of your images, however you want. You can give them a cinematic look.

What's inside the grading option

So, when you enter in the grading option you will find few color wheels accurately 4 color wheels.

First, you will see 4 different options that you can choose. Below them you will see a color wheel. With those options you can choose the color wheels, from Shadow to highlight, there is also an option for Mid tone. These color wheels to helps you manually control your color in Shadow, Highlight or in Mid tone.

Now if you scroll up little bit you will find some other options for each wheels.

First, option you will get two sliders, which is Hue and  Saturation. You will see the same sliders for each wheel. You can color grade your images by using the wheels, or you can also use the sliders to color grade your images. But this sliders are not only for color grade, you can use them to fine tune your color grade.

When you select a colour in the wheels, it's hard to get the right color for your images. At that time use the sliders to get the right color. By taping left or right in the sliders it will increase or decrease the value by 1 number (like from 55 then 56 then 57 then 58 or the opposite). So, you can choose the right color properly.

Now below the hue saturation sliders you will three other different sliders.

Those are luminance which will control brightness in a particular area depending which wheel you selected (shadow, highlight, mid tone), blending which will blend all the colors from all areas so, you can make it more natural. Last is a balance slider which will balance all the color between two areas like a shadow or highlight.

Okey, that's the feature in this new version, and this is the same color grading option that you will find in Lightroom Classic which is the PC version.

With this feature, we now have another option to control color. I think this is the best color grading option till now. We can go more creative with color. If you have a cloud service, then you can edit your image on the go which you are editing on your computer, and also you will get almost all the options that are in computer.

Adobe's New Tool for Colour Grading

Adobe posted a video to their YouTube channel, and in this video they gave us a sneak peak of their new features to colour grade your photos for Lightroom, Lightroom classic and Lightroom acr.

In this above video they tell us about their new advance colour grading features for Lightroom.

You will see a new option called Colour Grading and you won't find a split tone option there.

New colour grade for Lightroom

As you can see in the screen shot above there is 3 Colour Wheel instead of 2. They added a new wheel for Mid Tone along with the shadow and highlight. So now you can also control midtown.

New tool for adobe

There is also few wheel selector. So you can select the colour grading wheel individually which one you want to change, like Shadow , Highlight or the Mid Tone. Now there is also an another wheel selector and that is the global selector.

New colour grading for Lightroom

As you can see here. And they also added the luminance for this wheel. I think this wheel control all the three tone ( shadow, highlight and mid tone ) at the same time.

They also added a blending option for all the colour wheel. At the time of colour grading now you also can change the blending option, so the colour will blend with the subject naturally.

Adobe's new tool for grading

With this Blending you can control your hue saturation for your photo more utterly.

They are going to say about this feature completely in Adobe Max Creativity from 20 to 22 October along with some other features.

What is Landscape Photography

Landscape photography

Landscape photography meaning

In photography there are many category, and one of the popular category are Landscape Photography. So, what is this landscape photography? Maybe you know the meaning of landscape photography by the name of it. You already know the meaning of land ( the part maybe currently where you are standing right now ) , scape which is basically the view point or the scenery, actually the word scape used as a combined word with City, Land or Sea

So in simple word when you find a scenery or a view point of earth like Mountain, horizon of a forest, like forest lake during sunset, like roads through jungle, falling sunrays on mountain top, and others,  just think a view of earth and you try to capture it, that is what called Landscape Photography. As an example you can see the photo above, I capture the falling sun rays on the trees with blue sky and dark foreground. And a lonely tree.

Orientation

There are two type of orientation in photography, one is portrait ( when the height is taller then width ) and another is Landscape ( when the width is longer than height ). So, what will be the best orientation for landscape photography? Well you can shoot Landscape photography in both the orientation, in landscape or in portrait. Don't mix the landscape orientation with the landscape photography just because the name is same. It also goes for portrait orientation and portrait photo, they both are different terms. Portrait photography and portrait view ( orientation ) is totally a different thing. You can shoot whatever orientation you want for your landscape photography. You also take a photo in landscape view then you can crop it to a portrait view. Take the shot try to experiment which will look better.

What type of lens do you need for landscape photography

Maybe you saw a lot of landscape photos and you asked yourself what type of lens they are using for the photo. Well in general a wide angle lens is used to take photo, which will cover a lot of area from a very close distance. Remember, when you take your group shot using your phone which used a wide angle lens, it is same for landscape photography, to cover a big area use a wide angle. But what happened sometimes maybe you want to shoot a scenery but you can't reach to that point to take the shot. Maybe because it's too far from you, or maybe there's water between you and your subject or scenery. So, at that time you need to use a zoom lens or telephoto lens to and take the shot. It will also helps you remove unwanted objects from the side and also you can maintain your composition, also you will get nice details. Also, if you have high resolution camera then you can take a wide shot and crop the image. At the end, use any lens and experiment with it and see in which angle, or lens the photo will look much better than others and take the shot.

What device you should used

Most of the time photographers are using a wide angle for landscape photo, to cover the maximum view that they are looking. And as you know smartphone already have a wide angle as main shooter, so you can use a phone to take landscape shot, and also you will get a decent amount of details. But if you want more reach, more details than probably you need an actual camera for taking landscape shot and also a good quality glass ( lens ) to get the most details and sharpness that the camera can handle. Also a high Mega pixel device will better here. So when you try to crop the image you will still get some nice decent amount of details, and you can compose you shot in post processing.

How you can be a Landscape photographer

If you want to be a Landscape photographer, then you can. There's no special criteria to fill or need in this field. What you need is a camera or device with which you can take photos, basic knowledge in photography, and little skill to see the views and capture it with your device.

In conclusion landscape photography is a kind of art, where the photographer connect him/her self with the nature and capture the views. Also, you need to find the location or the views, you need to find the composition, you need to chose what angle or which mm lens you have to use, also you have to be in that location before time, so you can get the perfect shot your looking for.

Does Digital Camera Take Only Still Photos

Digital Camera can take still photo
Digital camera

First lets talk a little about the digital camera. A digital camera can take still images or photos as a Film camera can take. The process is the same in both type of cameras, light go through the lens and hit the sensor or the film, press the shutter button and it will capture the image. Now the main difference or the only difference is that Digital cameras has a digital sensor instead of a Film, it means digital camera store the images in a digital form not as a physical thing like the film which you have to develop later. But the digital images is ready to share after the second you take the shot.

It store your photos in a digital form as a binary data in simple an electronic memory in your computer or your mobile's memory . So, you can access those data as a photo which you capture before any time, any where in the world. You can share your photos on social media or to your friends or Family after the second you take your shot. Whereas with the film camera you capture the view on the film, then you take those films and develop them as a physical form which is a long time process.

The first digital camera was invented in 1975 by a kodak engineer name Steve Sasson. The size of this camera is big. And it's weight is about 3.6 kg almost 8 pounds ( 7.937 pounds). It has an early CCD sensor from Fairchild and the resolution of the sensor was 0.01 Mega pixels ( 100 × 100 pixels). It store the images in a Cassette Tape and it take 23 second to store the images. It is obvious cause it is the first digital camera or the prototype of the digital cameras.

After the first ever digital camera in 1975 now a days the digital cameras are everywhere in the world. No matter where in the world you are, you will definitely see a digital camera. Maybe in your hand, where your are currently reading this article, means your smartphone or your laptop. Yes your laptop and your smartphone has a camera. And yes that's a digital camera. You already know it don't need Film to store your images it means a digital camera.

Digital camera uses a digital electronic sensor. And the resolution measure there as a pixel. So, the more pixel a sensor have the more resolution you will get. Now a days this digital image sensor getting advance every year. Manufacturer added more pixel in digital sensors. Even you can control those resolution by the device. So you will get different type of resolution from a digital camera. As an example Sony alpha 7r iv (A7r iv) uses a 61mega pixel full frame image sensor, where the new sony alpha 7s iii ( A7s iii) uses only 12 mega pixel image sensor same as your smartphone camera. But a smartphone uses a tiny sensor, where professional camera uses a big sensor where the individual pixel is bigger then smartphone's pixel. And you will get way better images from an camera than your smartphone. So, digital camera's image does not has low resolution.

Does digital camera take only still images ?

The answer of this question is No, it not only take still images but also videos. And the proof is in your hand, I already told you before, that smartphone has a digital camera, and you already take videos with your phone, right? Not only smartphone but also the professional cameras, Mirrorless or even DSLR (  which stand for Digital Single Lens Reflect ) and you probably see, taking videos with DSLR in wedding, party and maybe other events. But how it actually take videos that's another part.

So, now a days digital cameras getting better and better every day. It not only take still images and videos there are many other features added to them. And with those feature you can shoot almost anything.

The main benefits of the digital camera is, it store your photo as a digital image in your electronic memory. So, you can share you photo instant, you can create as many copy as you want in few second, now a days even you can edit them as you want.

If you find this helpfull then you are free to share this.

More control in smartphone photography

Since few year ago smartphone were introduced. Manufacturer start adding new features to the smartphone. One of the main feature of the smartphone is the camera department.

Since the beginning of the smartphone and the present time there's so many things that changed in the camera department . The size of image sensor changed from smaller to bigger that means the quality of the photo gets better and better.  More camera( more focul length ) added to a single smartphone . More megapixel added, camera gets faster , more capable in low light and so on.  Manufacturer adds new features to the smartphone every year . You will find different features in different brand .

But most of the time these features works in auto mode. Phone figure it out itself what kind of feature is to use and where. But being a photographer you want to do by yourself where to focus, what should be the ISO, what should be your shutter speed, the basic control of photography, well in smartphone the aperture is fixed so, you really can't change the aperure so that's there's no function to change the aperture.

To do those certain works which you can't do in auto mode, you have to change the mode to manual mode , sometime few manufacturer called it pro mode. So, what happen in this mode is basically your smartphone gives you more control of ISO, Shutter Speed, and Focus ( The Exposer Triangle ) . Change ISO , Shutter Speed , focus according to your prospective, according to your situation.

Smartphone photography
Auto Mode , Auto HDR on

Manual Mode, No HDR

Now as an example look at this two images, you definitely can see in HDR mode the photo is dark as the phone increase the contrast also same goes with the highlight. Though the colours are pretty much same in both the images. The difference is that in auto mode the photo has much more contrast, where in manual mode the photo is flat, it has less contrast. It also gives you a natural view to the eye. Well in some cases auto mode perform very well with HDR but sometimes you need to adjust the settings by yourself as the phone can't handle the situation.

You can take some amazing long exposure shot at any time you want, well technically you can't take in day light unless you have some ND filters otherwise your photos will get too much over-exposed. You can take some Nightshot without loosing details and sharpness at the same time you can control your ISO.

Mobile photography
S-1/3  ISO-350

Look at this image, you can see the subject but they are moving so they came out blurry. But this kind of blur tells you that the subjects are moving. Now if you slower your shutter than this then you can't actually tell what are the subjects. What you will get is some blurry lines. You can't really take this kind of shot in auto mode.

You can also take Macro (closer shot of your subject ) shot. Now it's not a big deal to take Macro shot or closer shot, but during this shot the distance between your phone or subject is very close or small. Now what happen sometimes that  at small distance if your subject is also small then in automode your phone really struggle to focus on the subject, so what you need to do is to switch to Manual mode and change the focus by yourself, and I am telling you that it's a real fun to manually focus on the subject.

You can also take some really high speed subject or some action shot by changing your shutter speed. In auto mode sometime the smartphone can't detect the high speed subject so you need to switch to Manual Mode to change your shutter speed by yourself so you can take those cool action shot. Cause nowadays the smartphone is capable of doing so much thing that DSLR or Mirrorless camera can do. You just have know what you are doing.

At the end, if you want to share some quick story or photo then you can use the auto mode as it gives you the quick share capability with good details and colour. But if you want to do photography with some creativity and control then you have to use the Manual mode.

Now if you find this helpful feel free to share this with your friends.

Getting out of your Auto Mode in photography

You guys probably know what is auto mode. Right ? Those who don't know and the beginner photographer I want to say that maybe you already can guess the function of auto mode by it's name auto . This mode will provides you an auto function system by your camera . So when you take photos with this mode your camera will do all the work and gives you a final image . You don't need to do anything, just grab your camera and press the shutter button .

Probably you think this feature is quite good because you don't have to do anything by yourself . But that's not really the truth is , in photography you are the photographer, you tell your camera to do this setting or change that settings for a good contrasty looking photo, or shallow depth of field   but in auto mode you can't do anything at all .

You can not change your shutter speed when you want to capture a high speed object maybe your camera giving you a slower shutter speed , or maybewmaybe you need your aperture at maximum wide open for the bokeh or the background blur I mean the shallow depth of field at that time maybe you are not getting that wide open aperture .

I told you before that this mode do all the work for yourself and will give you and final image and the format of this image is JPEG ( jpg ) , which is great for share Instantly but as a photographer you maybe want to change few things or colour correct the image in post processing . But in this JPEG format you can't do anything in Post processing , I mean you can but the image loses a lot of lots of details or colour or maybe the image has too much noise . You still need Raw format to do this which is not possible in automode .

In a DSLR or Mirrorless there are few others mode with the auto mode, but in a smartphone phone there is only one mode which is the manual mode or few manufacturers called it a pro mode .
Auto mode vs Manual mode
Left - Manual Mode                Right- Auto Mode

As you can see in this 2 photos first one is Manual and the 2nd one is the Auto mode. There is not a big difference but you can see in manual mode there is 5 extra options at the right side which is focus , white balance , shutter button , iso , and the exposer value . You can't see a option for aperture value cause maybe you already know that smartphone's aperture is fixed you can't change it .
So the point is that if you want to get really good photos or you to become a photographer then you have to do is to get out of your auto mode , and use the other modes for the controls you want for a particular photo. And practice those mode regularly. And you have to keep in mind all the basic things for photography which you can check here.   That's it about this post.

Basic things in Photography

 What is photography ?

So what is photography ? Well this is a little hard question but I try to explain in a simple way . So, I think every beiginner photographer wants to know about this question. right ? So probably you can see lots of people grab their phone and take a selfie or maybe you told your friends to take a photo of your and your friend go to camera app and take a shot okay , so for me that's not photography means , well it's a kind of photography but not better or maybe it didn't stand your expectations. So, There are lots of thing matter in photography . Well as a beginner photographer maybe you don't understand all of the things but still you will get an interesting shot than an average person can't or a non photographer  .

What are the Basic things in Photography

In photography there are couple of few things that you need to keep in mind .

1. Automode

Okay so, first of all you need to get out of your auto mode . Well if you are using smartphone in 2020 which means you are already using a smartphone okay that's not funny well my point is that current gen smartphone can take better photo in automode  but if you are using a Mirrorless or a DSLR  then you have to get out of your auto mode . That way you can turn your photos however you want . You can go little under exposed, you go little over exposed ,you can change iso ,you can change the aperture and so many other things too.

2. Exposer

Secondly ,you have to keep in mind the exposer ,yes this one of the many things which is the most important part in photography . Again smartphone are using auto HDR mode which basically take the shadow part and the highlights part also so you can see details in shadow and the highlights area which looks  sometime great but not  but all the time .you have to keep the exposer level balanced so You can see the details in highlights and also in the shadow area .

3. Aperture

Thirdly , it's the aperture . This is basically a hole in the lense which is controllable through the camera or sometimes manually . It actually control the light flow , how much light will hit the sensor . The more light the better the photo . It also gives you the background blur or shallow depth of field kind of look in your photo and that gives you a professional kind of look in your photos .

4 .  Shutter Speed

Fourthly , the shutter speed . It actually a small part infront of your image sensor , that close and open. So when you press the capture button the camere closed the shutter and open it up again in a fraction of time . It means you take a shot . The more it will take time to closed the shutter the more light will hit the image sensor . When you are capturing a non moving subject you can lower the shutter speed and when you are capturing high speed object then you have to increase the shutter speed . With this you become creative .

5. Focus

Fifthly , it's the focus . It's also the main important thing in photography , right ? You get your exposer right , you set your shutter speed but the subject is out of focus . Then There's no meaning of that photo . Well in DSLR or Mirrorless the auto focus is great but in smartphone the it does not work properly . Then you can set your focus in manual mode and do it yourself. So, you always have to keep in mind that no matter what will happen you have to keep your subject in focus .

6. ISO

Sixthly , none other than iso . This is actually the sensitivity of your camera's image sensor . So when you higer the sensitivity your sensor can capture more light but it increases grain in your photos and it will also lower the quality of your photos. Actually when you don't have enough light then you need to increase the iso so it can capture more light . But you have to keep in mind that when you have enough light you always lower your iso settings for better quality in your photos.

7. White Balance

Seventhly , there is another things that you always have to keep in mind which is the White Balance . This is one of the things that can totally ruin your photo and you can't even correct it completely in post processing . If you are shooting in Raw then this features does not matter at all , but if your shooting in JPEG then this is one of the things that really matter . As my opinion set the White Balance in auto and let the camera handle this part .

8. Composition

Lastly , I want to tell about composition . It's something like where you want to put your subject on the frame.  If you put your subject all the way to the up or down in the frame or the corners maybe or the side then it doesn't look well.  You always maybe not always but most of the time have to put your subject in the middle of the frame or maybe a little left or a little right . According to your prospective to the subject .

Conclusion

Atlast I want to say that the point I mentioned above is the technical part of the photography.  So , if you want to get better in this part you have to practice more and more. Cause you already know practice makes you perfect . The more you spend time the more you will gain experience . And with experience you will understand the point I mentioned above and with those your photos will become from good to best .okay so that it everyone .  Thanks for reading.
